Excuses, Your Invisible Enemy

I hear a lot of excuses about a lot of things everyday. Sometimes I also have a lot of excuses about a lot of things. But i’ve noticed recently one thing with excuses. It’s unfounded.

The moment you begin to try and accomplish a goal, dream or vision. All of a sudden, everyone around you becomes an expert in human physiology, and gives you all of the reasons why your dream won’t work.

The problem with this, is most of these people have never attempted anything. If someone is an experienced, successful professional, then yes take their advice. But usually someone with experience has a foundation for their advice. They aren’t just flying by the seat of their pants, making up things as they talk.

In Exodus 4:10 Moses began to give his excuses to God, as to why he couldn’t do what God called him to do. As the story goes on, we quickly begin to find out that God does not accept excuses, he only accepts obedience.

Today, you may have a dream or vision that you would like to see happen, that God has placed in your heart. So don’t let the nay sayers who never do anything, convince you that..

  • People aren’t interested
  • Its not the right time of day/month/year/decade
  • People don’t like this or don’t like that. But they do like this (Usually something the person explaining just made up out of nowhere.)

If you get anything out of this post, get this. You will be amazed at what people will do when you stop speaking for them.

In the same way, don’t make assumptions about your own perceived “disadvantages” because

  • You have the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16)
  • You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. (Philippians 4:13)
  • It’s not by might or power, but by His Spirit (Zechariah 4:6)
  • If the Lord is for us who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)

Remember these verses next time your tempted to feel like you can’t do something that you know the Lord has asked you to do.

So just do what God has called you to do, seek out advice from professionals who have done what it is your doing, and let your excuses, and everyone else’s opinions fall by the way side.
